We bought our 2 bed semi in 1995 and the first project they completed for us was in 1997.We had a wooden porch at the front of the house which was in a bad state of repair, they removed this and built a sturdy brick porch in its place.
We were so impressed with their work that we didn’t hesitate to ask them to undertake a much bigger job in 2001. This time we needed a single storey extension to the rear which incorporated space for a new dining room and office. We also wanted to do a complete attic conversion inc staircase to create another bedroom.
In 2023 we needed their expertise again for another major project. This time to add a 2 storey extension to the side of the house to create a ‘Grannie annexe’ for my elderly mother so that she could have her own space after moving in with us. And also to dig up the front garden and replace it with a new driveway.
The level of knowledge, workmanship and professionalism that Mike and Dave have shown during each project and over the years has been outstanding! From start to finish they have organised and taken care of everything. From putting us in touch with an architect to first draw up plans to meet our requirements. Then applying for planning permission on our behalf, liaising with building inspectors at each stage and advising us on the best materials to use for each part and then sourcing what we needed.
They liaised with all the other tradesmen involved with the build on our behalf. On the most recent project the Window supplier so that we could replace the existing windows in the house to match the new ones. Their electrician who also replaced some lights in the main part of the house whilst fitting the new ones. And their Gas engineer as we decided to move the boiler from the existing kitchen, in to the extended part to free up more space. We even made some unplanned changes to the internal layout to include a downstairs cloakroom and toilet, and replaced a couple of kitchen cupboards and fitted a new and bigger gas hob. Nothing was too much trouble.
I had many friends and even complete strangers comment to me during the build that they were impressed with the work Mike and Dave were doing. For example, a neighbour commented that despite atrocious wind and rain at that time ….Mike and Dave were still ploughing on and continued to work. Whereas the builders he had used himself on a small project packed up and went home for the day at the first sign of rain ! But not these guys, they work hard regardless and their workmanship is always first class.
I had people assume that it was stressful with all the works going on, especially as I work from home as a childminder. But I can honestly say that I never felt any need to be stressed as Mike and Dave just took care of everything and kept everything going nicely. There was minimal impact to the rest of the house which enabled me to continue running my business safely throughout the build.
I think the fact that this is now the third time we have used this company over so many years, is testament to their skill, experience, work ethic and also pricing. We would not entertain any other builders as they have proven their skills countless times. We have never had a single problem over the years with any of the work they have completed, neither structural or otherwise. They are highly skilled, knowledgeable and will not settle until the work is completed just right, they do not entertain sloppy workmanship or sub standard materials. And just to top it off, they are both friendly, polite, decent and all round nice guys who made the whole process on each project stress and worry free.
